About

Daisy, real name Cindy, is a teacher, writer, and architect of instruction.  A twenty year veteran of varying scholarship, she’s spent the majority of those years wrapped snug in the vanguard of academic thought.  She has studied and taught around the world, from Asia to Australia, and in most of the states that spread across the wider continent in between.  She was multiple recipient of Teacher of the Year, for the Houston Unified School District; hand selected by Rod Paige, who emerged as Secretary of Education for the United States from 2000 - 2004.

Her final prize immediately preceded a migration to California where she was recruited by Johns Hopkins University to join a team of educators, whose sole purpose was to instruct others in best practices for most effective teaching.  Her calendar divided days spent developing curriculum in the lab, amidst weeks of heavy travel.

Daisy is a born teacher and missed having students.  So she left the lab, in exchange for the eager minds of a classroom.  Shortly after the birth of our boy, I swayed her to open a school and abandon the security of the district.  We’ve done that for three years; now we’re moving on to wonderful, new creative projects.

Since Daisy doesn’t like to write about herself, she passed the chore to me.  That’s perfectly fine, because I think she’s awesome, and would be happy to sprinkle stardust all over her resume.  She’s not too sure how Namas Daisy will evolve, but I really hope she sinks her teeth into education.  I know that none of you will be able to see it, but when she gets going her eyes actually look like they’re stretching her face which is amazing because their super huge to begin with.

To start, posts at Namas Daisy will be once a week, on Magnificent Mondays.  See you then.
